Madonna, the iconic pop star, recently finished her run of shows at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City. The shows were part of her internationally-acclaimed Celebration tour that has been wowing fans globally over the past six months.
Madonna’s Connection with Mexico and Frida Kahlo
During her tour, Madonna shared a deep, personal connection with the host country, Mexico, and its beloved painter, Frida Kahlo. The pop star had the honor of meeting the Kahlo family before embarking on her tour. She expressed her admiration for Frida in the family's guest book, referring to her as a “soulmate”.
Salma Hayek as Guest Judge
One of the memorable moments of Madonna's shows was the Vogue ballroom competition. The competition had the privilege of having the award-winning actress, Salma Hayek, as the guest judge.
Salma Hayek, known for her portrayal of Frida Kahlo in a 2002 film, paid homage to the revered painter by dressing up as her. Salma donned a bohemian skirt, a sheer corset, and braided hair wrapped around her head adorned with flowers, reminiscent of Frida Kahlo's iconic style.
Other Celebrity Guests
Apart from Salma Hayek, other notable celebrities also graced Madonna's shows. These included Guillermo Rodriguez and Alberto Guerra, adding star power to the events.
Tour Delays
Despite the tour's massive success, it faced a sudden delay due to Madonna's severe bacterial infection. The pop star had to spend several days in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Her health condition is gradually improving and full recovery is anticipated. All her commitments, including the tour, are on hold until further rescheduling.
