Over the past weekend in New York City, Today show producer Jennifer Long and Reid Sterrett said their vows in a star-studded event.
This wedding became a stage for familiar NBC faces, former and current, to gather. The attendees included Matt Lauer, Hoda Kotb, Al Roker, and Savannah Guthrie. Additionally, it wasn't exclusively NBC, as former Good Morning America celebrities Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes were seen in the crowd.
Interestingly, this ceremony marked a reunion of Matt Lauer with his ex-colleagues, almost six years after his exit from NBC, following sexual misconduct accusations. Lauer, who has been largely away from public focus since the dismissal, arrived at the event with girlfriend Shamin Abas.
Details of Lauer’s Departure and Accusations
Back in 2017, Brooke Nevils initially accused Lauer of sexual harassment and rape. Further allegations were brought to light by other NBC staff members and explored in Ronan Farrow's book, Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators. Following these accusations, Lauer's exit from the Today show was announced in November 2017, by both Hoda and Savannah Guthrie.
The Atmosphere of the Wedding
Hoda Kotb shared her excitement about the wedding, highlighting how the event succeeded in reuniting everyone. She also happily confessed to taking “drunkie selfies” with other guests at the party. However, Jenna Bush Hager, Hoda's co-host, was a notable absentee from the wedding, as she was away with her family.
