Beyoncé, the music icon, ventures into a new genre with her latest album, Cowboy Carter, marking her first endeavor into country music.
Album Details
Launched on March 29, this album features 27 tracks loaded with impressive cameos from renowned personalities such as Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus. Among the noteworthy songs on Cowboy Carter is the single Bodyguard, which offers lyrics that are speculated to hint at her long-serving bodyguard, Julius de Boer. The song takes a surprising twist as it suggests that Beyoncé herself stands as the bodyguard, presumably referring to her role in safeguarding her spouse, Jay-Z.
About Julius de Boer
Julius de Boer, aside from being Beyoncé's bodyguard, has built his own community of followers owing to his enduring loyalty to the superstar. He is also the head of De Boer Global, his own security firm.
Rumi's Cameo
Another intriguing feature in the album is the song Protector, which sees Beyoncé's daughter Rumi making a special guest appearance. This feat emulates that of her elder sister, Blue Ivy, who previously appeared on Jay-Z's track Glory and Beyoncé's song Brown Skin Girl. As a result, Rumi now proudly holds a number one album on the Billboard 200.
Inspiration behind the Album
In an official statement, Beyoncé divulged that the conception of the album spanned over five years. The inspiration behind Cowboy Carter came from an incident that left her feeling unwelcome, leading her to explore the history of Country music meticulously. This exploration saw her joining forces with various esteemed artists in the process. Despite the album's country-inspired vibe, Beyoncé insists that it should not be classified as a Country album but rather, a ‘Beyoncé' album.
