Syrian War Daily – 16th of November 2018

Hello and welcome to the 610th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Improvised explosive device killed one and wounded three civilians during a harvest in the village of Maraanaz near Azaz.

Latakia:

Operations room “Wa Harid al-Muminin” (And Incite the Believers) raided Syrian Arab Army and allies’ positions on Tell Burkan and Katif Hassan fronts in Jabal al-Akrad region. According to a statement by the operations room, 18 elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed and several light and medium weapons seized in the raid. The operations room consists of Hurras al-Deen, Ansar al-Tawhid, Jabhat Ansar al-Deen, and Jabhat Ansar al-Islam.

Hama:

Syrian Arab Army closed the crossing between Morek – Souran in northern Hama for unknown reasons.

Homs:

Improvised explosive device wounded two civilians near the village of Tell Amri in northern Homs.

Deir al-Zour:

Syrian Democratic Forces’ Media Center released a report regarding today’s encounters with the Islamic State in the governorate;

In the context of the resumption of the battle to defeat terrorism to eliminate the remnants of terrorists Daesh organization in the eastern countryside of Deir EZ-Zor, strong engagements broke out between our fighters and terrorists in several Axes , terrorists used various weapons, including the car bombs that our fighters detonated before reaching its goal, and due to that a number of terrorists were killed, and our fighters seized quantities of weapons and ammunition which left by terrorists on the battlefield.

The International coalition air Force carried out intensive raids on terrorist strongholds and fortifications, as well as targeting a number of car bombs and tunnels where terrorists were moving.

The air jets also destroyed a number of ammunition and support depots of terrorists, and a site and a communications base.

The fighting fronts are witnessing intermittent engagements between our fighters and Daesh terrorists, interspersed by mutual mortar shelling.

Final Outcome of Engagements:

– Number of strikes by the international coalition: 34 strikes

– Number of terrorist deaths: 17 terrorists

– Terrorists losses:

1 – Weapons warehouse number (7)

2 – destruction (24) car

3)destruction of a security center

(4) the destruction of a site for foreign fighters

(5) the destruction of defensive sites (4)

(6) the destruction of a number of Tunnels

7-destruction (11) sites where terrorists are holed up

8-destroying a logistic building (3)

9-destroying a communications base.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Pashtun Kot district.

Three elements of the Afghan Local Police surrendered to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Arkalik area of Qaysar district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Pachir Aw Agam district.

Islamic State’s improvised explosive device targeted an Afghan National Army’s vehicle, wounding three soldiers in Moi Mubarak area of Surkh Rod district.

Paktia Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 19 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and destroyed a vehicle in Zurmat district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device targeted an Afghan National Army’s foot patrol, wounding four soldiers in Zurmat district.

Ghor Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and destroyed several weapons depots and ammunition caches in Charsada district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked the administration center of Charsada district, reportedly killing one and wounding seven elements of the Afghan National Security Forces.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Ghazni district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reportedly killed 11 and wounded nine elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Ghazni district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device targeted an Afghan National Army’s armored vehicle, killing two and wounding three soldiers in Qarabagh district.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six and wounded five elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Pusht Rod district.

Nimruz Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed a vehicle in Tarinkot district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed seven elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed a vehicle and a motorcycle in Nawzad district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed five elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Jerashk, Nawa-I-Barakzayi, and Sangin districts.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device killed an element of the Afghan National Security Forces in Nagahan area of Arghandab district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
