Aleppo:

Free Syrian Police (Turkey-backed Free Police) was deployed in the city of Afrin, after the first batch of 620 policemen finished training in Mersin, Turkey. Two more batches of the Free Syrian Police are being trained in Turkey. The police is expected to take control of checkpoints and government buildings in Afrin from the Free Syrian Army and military police, as well as hunt YPG‘s cells and control drugs in the city. Deployment of the police is currently confined to the city of Afrin, with reports that there are plans to include all the towns and villages in the area.

Idlib:

Unknown gunmen opened fire on a Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s vehicle on the road between Idlib and Maarat Misreen, reportedly killing four elements of the group. Similarly, unknown gunmen killed three elements of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham on the road between Idlib and Hafasraja.

Turkish Armed Forces’ convoy entered Syria through Khirbet al-Jawz and headed towards Jabal Ishtabaraq area in western Idlib, in order to strengthen an observation point in the area.

Hama:

Unknown gunmen in a van attacked Faylaq al-Sham’s headquarters in Tell Malah, north of Hama. According to the reports, six elements of Faylaq al-Sham were killed in the encounter, while the gunmen seized weapons from the killed elements and the headquarters.

Daraa:

Free Syrian Army’s Al-Wiyat al-Omari arrested 19 elements of the Islamic State in the vicinity of Jbeib village, who attempted to cross rebel-held areas from the areas under the control of the Syrian Arab Army to the areas under the control of the Islamic State-affiliated Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid. The arrested elements were recently evacuated from southern Damascus to desertous area between Homs and Deir al-Zour governorates. Similarly, Jaysh al-Islam arrested 22 elements of the Islamic State near Al-Malahiyah al-Sharqiyah, who attempted to do the same thing as the aforementioned group.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 12 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) and destroyed two vehicles in Khwaja Sabz Posh and Shirin Tagab districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that the group captured Islam Kala, Tapa Kala, and Gurziwan Qashlaq areas of Shirin Tagab district from the Afghan National Security Forces. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan also reportedly captured a military base and three checkpoints, as well as killed and wounded 15 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces.

Afghan National Army’s commander, Abas and 15 other elements of the army defected to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Gurziwan Qashlaq area of Shirin Tagab district. The defected elements handed over a pickup, a DShK heavy machine gun, a PK machine gun, two RPG launchers, a sniper rifles, and 25 assault rifles to the group. Similarly, ten elements of the Afghan Local Police defected to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Ghalbyan and Hamran areas of Gurziwan district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six, wounded one, and arrested one element of the Islamic State, as well as destroyed two tunnels in Deh Bala (Haska Meyna) district and in Kunar Province’s Dara-I-Pech (Manogay) district.

Islamic State’s improvised explosive device killed one and wounded one element of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Islam (Army of Islam) in Sabina Jai area of Nazyan district.

Logar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked an Afghan National Army’s post in Baraki Barak district, reportedly killing six soldiers in the process.

Ghor Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed eight and wounded eight elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Chahar Sada district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan killed five and wounded four elements of the Afghan National Army in Mang area of Chahar Sada district.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces launched clearing operations against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan across the governorate. Afghan Ministry of Defense stated that 37 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were killed and 14 wounded, as well as three vehicles, two motorcycles, and several weapons depots and ammunition caches seized in Andar, Ajristan, Deh Yak, Qarabagh, Khogyani (Wali Muhammadi Shahid), and Jaghto districts.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces launched cleaning operations against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Chora and Khas Urozgan districts. Afghan Ministry of Defense stated that 25 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were killed and 13 wounded in the operations so far.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran five Afghan National Security Forces’ military centers in Tori Cheni area of Chora district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that 27 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces, including commanders Zainak and Karim were killed, as well as 16 elements wounded in the encounters.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed nine and wounded 18 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed two vehicles, a camp, and two fighting positions in Sangin, Musa Qala, and Nawa-I-Barakzayi districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed 13 elements of the Afghan National Army and the Afghan National Police in Nad Ali and Nawa-I-Barakzayi districts.

Kandahar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Shah Wali Kot district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device targeted an Afghan National Army’s foot patrol in Jalahor area of Arghandab district, killing three soldiers.

CJTF-OIR:

Between the 18th and the 24th of May 2018 CJTF-OIR has conducted 46 strikes in Syria. CJTF-OIR‘s main focus in Syria at the moment is Deir al-Zour-Albu Kamal region where they did 42 strikes supporting SDF‘s operations against IS destroying six IS command and control centers, six IS fighting positions, two IS supply routes, seven IS-held buildings, an IS IED factory, an IS vehicle, and an IS weapons cache.

Other area where four strikes occurred is Al-Shadaddi, destroying an IS supply cache, an IS anti-aircraft weapon, two IS fighting positions, two IS tunnel systems, and two IS IED belts. Full report on CJTF-OIR strikes conducted in both Syria & Iraq can be found here.
