Syrian War Daily – 7th of July 2019

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

‘Afrin Liberation Forces’ (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê) released a new statement claiming that the group conducted an operation against the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army in Afrin region. Full statement released by the group;

On July 5th our forces carried out an operation using light and middle-classed assault weaponry against a number of jihadists from the so-called Ahrar Al-Sham gang on the Basut-Khezawi road of Sherawa town. A number of the mentioned group was killed during the clashes. Simultaneously with the clashes between our forces and Ahrar Al-Sham, a group of jihadists attempted to give backup to the group our forces were engaged in clashes with but were not successful and our forces targeted them with a sabotage action. As a result of both actions 4 Turkish-backed jihadists were killed and further 4 were injured.

Raqqa:

Unknown gunmen executed an individual on a road near the village of Maizilah, north of Raqqa city.

Idlib:

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery, the Syrian Arab Air Force, and the Russian Air Force targeted Babila, Maar Shurin, Jadraya, Jarjanaz, Khan Sheikhun, Kafr Sajnah, and several other localities in the governorate. According to the Syrian Civil Defense (The White Helmets), at least six civilians were killed and six were wounded by the targeting.

Deir al-Zour:

Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device reportedly killed two and wounded three civilians in Abu Hammam in eastern Deir al-Zour.

Al-Suwayda:

Unknown gunmen attacked the headquarters of the Syrian Arab Armed Forces in the city of Salkhid. There were no casualties on either side, as the attackers fled shortly after the Syrian Arab Armed Forces responded to the attack.

Afghanistan

Maydan Wardak Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed five elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in the province.

Ghazni Province:

Suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device reportedly killed 12 and wounded 96 individuals in the 1st District of Ghazni city.

Zabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran Afghan National Security Forces’ Zayart checkpoint in Shah Joy district. Two elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were wounded in the encounter.

Helmand Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran and dismantled an Afghan National Police’s post in Sarkhaduz area of Nawa-I-Barakzayi district. Ten elements of the Afghan National Police were killed in the encounter.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
