Syrian War Daily – 18th of March 2019

Hello and welcome to the 732nd installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Improvised explosive device wounded two civilians near Al-Qabban roundabout on a road towards the village of Ternada in the vicinity of Afrin city.

Hama:

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery shelled Al-Hawiz, Al-Sahrwiya, Shahranaz, and Morek in northern Hama. According to the Syrian Civil Defense (The White Helmets), 15 civilians were wounded by the shelling of northern Hama.

Daraa:

Unknown gunmen attacked a Syrian Arab Army’s checkpoint in Daraa al-Balad district of Daraa city. Clashes between the two resulted in no casualties, as the gunmen retreated from the checkpoint.

Afghanistan

Balkh Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) and destroyed two motorcycles in Balkh district.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed nine elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Tarinkot district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 19 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed two vehicles and eight motorcycles in Nad Ali, Sangin, and Kajaki districts, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Police’s post in Kamparak area of Jerashk district. Four elements of the Afghan National Police were killed in the encounter.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed five elements of the Afghan National Police in Sangin and Nahri Saraj districts.
