Hello and welcome to the 649th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Syrian Arab Army entered Syrian Democratic Forces-held Al-Arimah and its surroundings, as the latter is reportedly preparing to hand over the area to the former. According to reports, Syrian Democratic Forces are also preparing to hand over the city of Manbij and its surroundings to the Syrian Arab Army tomorrow. Coincidentally, the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army and Turkish Armed Forces are reportedly almost ready to start a new offensive against the Syrian Democratic Forces in Manbij area.

’Wrath of Olives Operation Room’ targeted and destroyed a vehicle of the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army on the road between Afrin and Jabal al-Ahlam.

Damascus:

Syrian Arab News Agency stated that the Syrian Arab Army’s air defenses engaged and intercepted hostile targets west of Damascus.

Daraa:

Syrian Arab Army arrested a former commander of the Free Syrian Army, Talal al-Shaqran (Abu Faraj Maarba) and two families at a checkpoint, as they were on their way towards Latakia. Al-Shaqran reconciled with the Syrian government in July of 2018 and has since joined the Russia-backed 5th Corps of the Syrian Arab Army.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Gurziwan district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Police’s post, reportedly killing four and wounding two policemen near the administration center of Gurziwan district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and an element of the Islamic State in Hisarak and Pachir Aw Agam districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that the group overran 14 Afghan National Security Forces’ posts in Bati Kot district. According to Al-Emarah, 18 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and 14 wounded in the encounters. Two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were killed and three wounded in the same encounters.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three and wounded two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Ghazni district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that 15 elements of the Afghan National Army defected to the group in Khwaja Omari district.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed ten elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Bala Buluk and Bakwa districts.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed two elements of the Afghan National Police in Jogram area of Maywand district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
