Aleppo:

Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device killed one and wounded three civilians near a market in the city of Jarabulus, north of Aleppo.

Raqqa:

Improvised explosive device wounded an element of the Syrian Democratic Forces on a road towards Qalaat Jabaar near the city of Tabqa.

Latakia:

Unknown gunmen released the director of ‘Sahel Health Directorate’ Dr Khalil Agha, a week after he was kidnapped in Ayn al-Baida region. The gunmen released Agha after receiving ransom of around 100 thousand US dollars.

Idlib:

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery shelled Al-Tah and Tahtaya in southern Idlib. According to the Syrian Civil Defense (The White Helmets), three civilians were killed and ten wounded by the shelling of the two aforementioned localities.

Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) conducted security operations in Maarat al-Numaan and Ariha, targeting individuals who promote reconciliation with the Syrian government. According to the reports, 20 individuals were arrested in Maarat al-Numaan and ten in Ariha during the operations.

Homs:

Left over rebel improvised explosive device killed two civilians near the village of Sneisel in northern Homs.

Al-Suwayda:

Syrian Arab Army and allies captured Marqab Qabyan, Huweit Ghsein, Al-Kasera, and Tell Abu Ghanem around Tell al-Safa from the Islamic State. Syrian Arab News Agency released a report regarding the event;

SANA correspondent said that the army units and the allied forces advanced in the northeastern direction in the depth of Sweida Badiyah and liberated Marqab Qabian, Hwiet Ghsein, al-Kaseera and Tel Abu Ghanem to the north and northwest of Tiloul al-Safa following heavy clashes with Daesh terrorists.

The correspondent added that the army’s new advance resulted in destroying fortified positions and depots for the terrorists, in parallel with pursing the terrorists fleeing.

The correspondent clarified that tightening the noose around the remnants of the terrorists positioned in the area which is of a rugged and complex nature, cutting their supplying routes and destroying their positions with the appropriate weapons is accelerating their defeat and increasing their losses, while the engineering units are combing the liberated areas and dismantling the IEDs and mines left behind by the terrorists.

Afghanistan

Kunduz Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed one and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Archi (Dasht-e Archi) district.

Takhar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan launched an attack on a large Afghan National Security Forces’ military base in Dashti Qala district. According to the reports, 18 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and ten wounded in the encounter.

Kunar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News claimed that two elements of the United States Army were killed and eight elements of the Afghan National Army wounded in the group’s shelling of a large military base in Sirkani district.

Afghan National Security Forces’ element surrendered to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Nari district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed eight and wounded five elements of the Islamic State in Achin and Nazyan district.

Paktia Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed five and wounded four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed a vehicle and a motorcycle in Zurmat district.

Badghis Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Muqur district.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 72 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and destroyed three camps in Ghazni district, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News claimed that more than 60 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces and ten elements of the United States Army were killed, as well as at least 38 vehicles destroyed during clashes across the city of Ghazni. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s spokesman, Zabiullah Mujahid stated that the group completely captured Rowza area in Ghazni city, after overrunning three checkpoints.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed five elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Farah district.

Urozgan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran three Afghan National Army’s posts in Sarkhom area of Tarinkot district. Reports suggest that 18 elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and six wounded in the encounters.

Helmand Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device killed two elements of the Afghan National Army in Yakhchal area of Nahri Saraj district.

Kandahar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Maywand district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Army’s checkpoint in Maghalgayno area of Arghistan district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized a DShK heavy machine gun, two PK machine guns, an RPG launcher, two assault rifles, and three motorcycles from the checkpoint.

CJTF-OIR:

Between the 6th and the 12th of August 2018 CJTF-OIR has conducted six strikes in Syria. CJTF-OIR‘s main focus in Syria at the moment is Deir al-Zour-Albu Kamal region where they did six strikes supporting SDF‘s operations against IS destroying 53 IS vehicles, an IS headquarters, an IS logistics hub, and an IS weapons cache.
