Syrian War Daily – 8th of August 2019

Hello and welcome to the 875th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:


Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device killed two and wounded four civilians at a roundabout in the city of Afrin.


Rebel factions shelled Al-Haffah and Al-Qardaha in northern Latakia. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, five civilians were wounded by the shelling.


Syrian Arab Army captured Sakhr, Tell al-Sakhr, and Sakhr silos, as well as Al-Jaysat from Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) in northern Hama.

Left over improvised explosive device killed one and wounded three individuals in Al-Dumayr, east of Damascus.


Unknown gunmen assassinated a former commander of the Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Muetaz, Nasif Marwan Loisi on the road between Tell Shehab and Al-Ajami.

Unknown gunmen killed two former elements of the Free Syrian Army on a road in the city of Daraa.


Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) overran two Afghan National Security Forces’ checkpoints in Rangrezano area of Maywand district. Seven elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed in the encounter.


CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
