Syrian War Daily – 6th of August 2019

Hello and welcome to the 873rd installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

‘Afrin Liberation Forces’ (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê) released a new statement claiming that the group conducted several operations against the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army in Afrin region. Full statement released by the group;

On August 4th our forces carried out an effective operation against the Jabha Al-Shamiye jihadists in the vicinity of Mare. Our forces targeted a military vehicle which contained a number of jihadists. As a result, the military vehicle was destroyed and 4 jihadists were killed and a further 2 were injured.

On August 5th our forces carried out a number of operations against the positions of Turkish-backed jihadist groups on the village of Berade in Shirawa. Our forces infiltrated a base of the jihadists and clashes broke out between our forces and the jihadists. As a result. 2 jihadists were killed and a base belonging to the jihadists was destroyed

Simultaneously, when a number of jihadists attempted to evacuate the bodies of those killed from the region, our forces targeted them with a sabotage operation. As a result of this, 2 jihadists were killed.

On the other side of the same village (Berade) our forces detonated a mine where a number of jihadists were gathered. As a result of this, 5 jihadists were killed.

As a balance sheet for the operations carried out in the village of Berade: 9 jihadists were killed and a number of armament was confiscated. The confiscated armament is as follows: 2 AK-4, 2 magazine vests, 12 magazines and 2 telephones.

Raqqa:

Improvised explosive device killed one and wounded one element of the Syrian Democratic Forces on a road in eastern Raqqa.

Hama:

Rebel factions shelled Jourin, Al-Jeed and Salimou in northern Hama. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, two civilians were killed and six were wounded by the shelling.

Syrian Arab Army restarted attacks against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) on Al-Zakat and Al-Arbein fronts in northern Hama.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 31 and wounded 20 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Bilchiragh district.

Maidan Wardak Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed nine elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Nirkh and Maidan Shar districts.

Herat Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan Local Police’s base in Korat area of Guzara district. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, more than 30 elements of the Afghan Local Police were killed in the encounter.

Urozgan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran two Afghan National Security Forces’ centers in Hoshi area of Charchino district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
