Syrian War Daily – 3rd of August 2019

Hello and welcome to the 870th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

‘Afrin Liberation Forces’ (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê) released a new statement claiming that the group conducted several operations against the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army in northern Aleppo. Full statement released by the group;

On July 31st in the vicinity of Mare, our forces carried out an operation against the positions of Ahrar Al-Sharqiye and Jabha Al-Shamiye. As a result of this operation 5 jihadists were killed

On August 2nd in the village of Kafar Khashir of the Azaz region, our forces carried out a wider operation against the base and positions of the terrorists. As a result of this demanding and difficult clashes, 8 terrorists were killed and an unconfirmed number were injured. Many positions of the terrorists were destroyed, and a vehicle mounted with a Doshka was destroyed.

On August 2nd in the village of Dakhilbash of the Bab region, our forces carried out an operation against the positions of the Jabha Al-Shamiye jihadists. As a result of this operation, a vehicle mounted with a Doshka was destroyed and 4 terrorists were killed.

As a result of the operations carried out by our forces in Mare, Bab and Azaz, 17 jihadists were killed and 2 military vehicles each mounted with a Doshka were destroyed and many positions of the jihadist gangs were destroyed.

Improvised explosive device wounded six individuals, including a commander of the Free Syrian Army’s Faylaq al-Sham in the city of Al-Bab. The wounded commander was identified as Abu Abdo Ansar.

Hama:

Homs:

Unexploded ordnance reportedly killed 28 and wounded five elements of the Syrian Arab Army at Al-Shayrat Airbase. The incident occurred as the ordnance was being transported.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 13 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Bilchiragh district.

Badghis Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Security Forces’ post, killing ten elements in Bazbayano area of Qadis district.

Ghor Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Security Forces’ checkpoint and a military base in Band Bayan area of Firozkooh district. Ten elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and eight were wounded in the encounters.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces allegedly killed around 100 and wounded 50 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed 14 vehicles in operations at the outskirts of Farah city.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Security Forces’ Kamaz truck, killing three elements in Joy Lahore area of Arghandab district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
