Syrian War Daily – 28th of June 2019

Hello and welcome to the 834th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

‘Afrin Liberation Forces’ (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê) released a new statement claiming that the group conducted several operations against the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army in Afrin region. Full statement released by the group;

On June 26 our troops ambushed the soldiers of the Turkish occupation on the road between Afrin city and Basota village of Sherawa district where heavy clashes broke out between the HRE fighters and the soldiers of the Turkish occupation resulted in killing a soldiers of the Turkish occupation and wounding 7 soldiers.

On June 27 the troops of HRE carried out an attack from 2 axis on Kebashin hill of Sherawa district and an observation point for the army of the Turkish occupation in the same area where the troops clashed with them and resulted in killing 4 soldiers and wounding a mercenary.

In conjunction with these operation the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries sent a number of the mercenaries to comb the area where our troops targeted a group of them resulted in killing 5 mercenaries and wounding 2 others in addition to targeting military points which resulted in killing 3 mercenaries and wounding a number of them.

In these clashes one of our fighters was wounded.

On June 27 our troops detonated an explosive device which targeted a headquarter of the Military Police in Ternda neighborhood of Afrin City, where 1 mercenary killed and 1 other wounded.

The death toll of the clashes: more than 14 soldiers and mercenaries were killed and a number were wounded.

Free Syrian Army’s Ahrar al-Sharqiya clashed with the Syrian Arab Army near the city of Tadef, northeast of Aleppo. One element of Ahrar al-Sharqiya was reportedly wounded in the clashes.

Improvised explosive device wounded three civilians near a hospital in the city of Al-Atarib in western Aleppo.

Idlib:

Improvised explosive device killed a commander of Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front)’s Jaysh al-Ahrar, Hussein al-Silae (Abu Omar) and wounded his son in the city of Taftanaz in northeastern Idlib. Similarly, an improvised explosive device wounded another commander of Jaysh al-Ahrar, Abu Ali in the village of Zardana, south of Taftanaz. Jaysh al-Ahrar stated that the group found another improvised explosive device in the governorate, which was successfully dismantled.

Improvised explosive device wounded a commander of the Free Syrian Army’s Jabhat Thuwar Saraqib, Shaher al-Assouli in the city of Saraqib. The explosion also wounded five elements of Ahrar al-Sham from Azaz that were visiting Al-Assouli in Saraqib.

Hama:

Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham repelled several Syrian Arab Army’s attempts to advance on Tell Malah and Al-Jubain in northern Hama. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham claimed that at least 17 elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed and 28 were wounded in the clashes, while Jaysh al-Izza also released a statement claiming that more than 50 elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed and wounded in the encounters.

Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) destroyed a Syrian Arab Army’s tank and a BMP with anti-tank guided missiles on Kafr Houd front.

Homs:

Unknown gunmen reportedly announced the formation of Saraya al-Muqawama (Resistance Companies / Brigades) against the Syrian Arab Armed Forces in Homs governorate.

Daraa:

Syrian Arab Army arrested a former commander of the Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Thawra, Mahmoud Attia Attia (Abu Hamza Tarbesh) in the city of Daraa.

Afghanistan

Kapisa Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) and destroyed ten improvised explosive devices in Tagab and Najrab districts.

Maidan Wardak Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Chaki Wardak district.

Herat Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Shindand district.

Ghor Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked Afghan Local Police’s positions in Gawkash and Manara areas of Tolak district. Reports stated that the group overran the two aforementioned areas, killing six and wounding ten elements of the Afghan Local Police in the process.

Ghazni Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan launched a large-scale offensive on Deh Yak administration center against the Afghan National Security Forces. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News claimed that 35 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed in the offensive.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran two Afghan National Security Forces’ posts in Dab Khakrez area of Khakrez district. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, 20 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and two armored personnel carriers were destroyed in the encounters.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
