Syrian War Daily – 21st of June 2019

Hello and welcome to the 827th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Free Syrian Army’s Firqat al-Hamza and Firqat al-Sultan Murad (Sultan Murad Division) clashed in the city of Al-Bab in northern Aleppo. According to reports, one element of Firqat al-Hamza was killed in the clashes. The clashes reportedly started after a quarrel between a displaced individual from Homs and an individual from Al-Bab city.

Raqqa:

Left over Islamic State’s improvised explosive device killed a civilian near the village of Tellat al-Ansar, west of Raqqa city.

Idlib:

Liwa Homs al-Adiya, belonging to the Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Izza, appointed Abu Mohammed (Al-Muhajir) as its new leader, after the death of its previous leader, Abdul Basset al-Sarot. The group also appointed new Shura council and decided to continue operating within Jaysh al-Izza.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 13 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Pashtun Kot district.

Baghlan Province:

Six elements of the Afghan National Army defected to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Baghlan-e Markazi district.

Kapisa Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran five Afghan Local Police’s posts in Tagab district.

Badghis Province:

11 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces defected to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Jawand district.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four and wounded an element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Tarinkot district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and arrested three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Nahri Saraj district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
