Syrian War Daily – 22nd of May 2019

Hello and welcome to the 797th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device wounded 12 civilians at a market in the city of Jarabulus in northern Aleppo.

Idlib:

Syrian Arab Air Force conducted air raids over the city of Saraqib. According to the Syrian Civil Defense (The White Helmets), five civilians were killed and 19 were wounded by the air raids.

Hama:

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, backed by Jaysh al-Izza and the rest of Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) captured the city of Kafr Nabudah from the Syrian Arab Army. However, according to reports, the Syrian Arab Army backed by the Syrian Arab Air Force started a counterattack to recapture the locality.

Afghanistan

Kunar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 11 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Nurgal district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 21 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Sangin, Kajaki, and Marjah districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked Afghan National Security Forces’ reinforcements coming from Lashkar Gah towards Marjah district. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, 43 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and wounded, as well as two armored personnel carriers destroyed in the attack.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed two elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Chinar area of Shah Wali Kot district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
