Syrian War Daily – 10th of May 2019

Hello and welcome to the 785th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

‘Afrin Liberation Forces’ (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê) released a new statement claiming that the group conducted three operations against the Turkish Armed Forces and the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army in northern Aleppo. Full statement released by the group;

Our fighters targeted a military vehicle belonging to Turkish backed jihadist group Jabha al-Shamiye in occupied Azaz on May 7, wounding 3 terrorists and destroying the vehicle.

Our units targeted a Turkish army base which had been shelling populated areas in the village of Sokhanek and Aqiba in Sherawa district on May 9. 2 Turkish soldiers were killed, 4 got wounded and a military vehicle was damaged.

Our forces targeted a work machine working in the construction of the concrete wall in the village of Kimar on May 9. The vehicle was destroyed and 3 of Firqat al-Hamza jihadists were killed as a result of the operation.

Idlib:

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery, the Syrian Arab Air Force, and the Russian Air Force targeted Khan Sheikhun, Kafr Nabl, Maarat al-Numaan, Sheikh Mustafa, Rakaya, Kafr Sajna, and more localities. According to the Syrian Civil Defense (The White Helmets), at least two civilians were killed and more than 15 were wounded by the targeting.

Hama:

Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) launched a counterattack against the Syrian Arab Army northwest of Qalaat al-Madiq. Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir reportedly captured Al-Shariyah in the counterattack.

Syrian Arab Army repelled a large Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s attack on Kafr Nabudah in northern Hama. At least seven elements of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham were confirmed as killed, with reports stating that more than 40 elements were killed in the encounter.

Damascus:

Improvised explosive device killed one and wounded two civilians near Al-Bahdaliya village in southern Damascus.

Afghanistan

Badghis Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) overran an Afghan National Security Forces’ military base in Akazo area of Murghab district. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, 20 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and 12 were wounded in the encounter. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized four PK machine guns, two RPG launchers, and ten assault rifles from the base.

Farah Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Police’s checkpoint in Regi area of Farah district. Four elements of the Afghan National Police were killed and two were wounded in the encounter.

Zabul Province:

Three elements of the Afghan National Security Forces surrendered to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Maltani Manda area of Shahr-e Safa district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Nahri Saraj district.

Kandahar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 21 and wounded one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Khakrez district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
