Syrian War Daily – 7th of May 2019

Hello and welcome to the 782nd installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device wounded a civilian on the 30th Street in western part of Manbij city.

Raqqa:

Unknown gunmen killed an element of the Syrian Democratic Forces near the village of Al-Andalus.

Latakia:

Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) conducted a raid against the Syrian Arab Army’s positions on Abu Assad hill in Jabal al-Akrad region. According to Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir’s sources, at least eight elements of the Syrian Arab Army were reportedly killed and around 22 were wounded in the raid.

Idlib:

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery, the Syrian Arab Air Force, and the Russian Air Force targeted Al-Habit, Al-Bara, Kansafra, Ras al-Ayn, Maar Tahroma, Al-Tamaneh, Kafr Sajna, Tarmala, and more localities in the governorate. According to the Syrian Civil Defense (The White Helmets), at least seven civilians were killed and more than 20 were wounded by the targeting.

Hama:

Syrian Arab Army secured Tell Othman and Al-Janabra in northwestern Hama, after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham launched a counterattack yesterday. Clashes between the two sides shifted towards Tell al-Sakhr, as the Syrian Arab Army is attempting to make further advances.

Libya

Tripoli:

Libyan National Army downed a warplane of the forces loyal to the Government of National Accord, during the warplane’s raids over Wadi al-Hari, Al-Aziziyah and Gharyan in southern Tripoli. Libyan National Army captured the pilot of the warplane, who is from Portugal and reportedly called “Jimmy Reese”.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban)’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Security Forces’ armored vehicle in Khwaja Usman area of Almar district.

Baghlan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 13 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Pul-e Khumri district.

Maidan Wardak Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed five elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Saydabad district.

Paktia Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 11 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Zurmat district.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Qarabagh district.

Urozgan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed and killed two elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Zarqawi area of Deh Rawud district.

Zabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan killed seven elements of the Afghan National Security Forces and destroyed an armored personnel carrier in Zangli area of Khak Afghan district.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed two elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Sara Baghal area of Maywand district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
