Syrian War Daily – 1st of May 2019

Hello and welcome to the 776th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:


Unknown gunmen attempted to assassinate a commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces’ Jaysh al-Thuwar, Abu Ali Barad with an improvised explosive device near Al-Kitab roundabout in the city of Manbij. Ali Barad was not harmed in the incident.

Improvised explosive device wounded two civilians near Al-Midfae roundabout at the southern entrance to Manbij city. Separately, an improvised explosive device wounded a civilian near a mosque in Al-Bab city.

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery, the Syrian Arab Air Force, and the Russian Air Force targeted Abideen, Al-Bara, Maarzita, Rakaya Sijneh, Al-Mushayrifa, Maar Shurin, Al-Habit, Tarmala, Al-Mintar, Al-Naqir, Al-Amariyah, and Kafr Nabl. Reports claimed that at least six civilians were killed and four were wounded by the targeting.

Improvised explosive device wounded two civilians in Sarmada.


Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front) claimed that its shelling of Bredij camp killed four elements of the Russian Armed Forces.


Unknown gunmen killed one and wounded two elements of the National Defense Forces in the village of Arra in southern Al-Suwayda.


Afghan Ministry of Defense didn’t release any reports regarding Afghan National Security Forces’ operations across the country.

Farah Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) ambushed and killed three elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Shewan area of Bala Buluk district.


CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
