Syrian War Daily – 4th of April 2019

Hello and welcome to the 749th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:


‘Afrin Liberation Forces’ (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê) released a new statement claiming that the group conducted two operations against the Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army in northern Aleppo. Full statement released by the group;

On 2 April, our forces carried out an operation and targeted a Bulldozer belonging to al-Jabha al-Shamiyya’s mercenaries who were carrying out fortifications and digging trenches in the vicinity of Mare’ town in the northern countryside of Aleppo, where the mercenary called Mohammed Rashid was killed and others wounded.

On 3 April, our forces carried out an attack on a military base belonging to the mercenaries of the 55th Brigade of the Turkish occupation in the village of Kafr Kelbin in Azaz region, where the injury of three mercenaries, including two serious cases was confirmed.

Unknown gunmen attempted to assassinate and wounded a member of Al-Abzmu’s local council, Shahid Taher in the locality. Separately, unknown gunmen attempted to assassinate and wounded a commander of Faylaq al-Sham, Zeid Khulusi, also in Al-Abzmu.

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery and the Syrian Arab Air Force targeted Kafr Nabl, Maarat al-Numaan, and Saraqib in the governorate. According to the Syrian Civil Defense (The White Helmets), 12 civilians were reportedly killed, while other reports claimed that more than 30 civilians were wounded by the targeting.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham reportedly killed five elements of the Syrian Arab Army with an anti-tank guided missile in the village of Sham al-Hawa in southern Idlib.

Improvised explosive device killed an element of Faylaq al-Sham in the village of Termanin. The explosion occurred as the element attempted to dismantle the explosive device, which was planted on a group’s vehicle in front of the headquarters in the village.



Libyan National Army started advancing towards the city of Tripoli, after receiving orders from the Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. Libyan National Army peacefully took over Gharyan and Sorman from forces loyal to the Government of National Accord. In response to the advances, the Government of National Accord announced general mobilization of its forces.


Badghis Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed seven and wounded six elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Murghab district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran five Afghan National Security Forces’ checkpoints in Murghab district. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, 12 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and 21 captured in the encounters Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized nine PK machine guns, an RPG launcher, and 15 assault rifles from the posts.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 12 and wounded one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Chora and Tarinkot districts.

Zabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan destroyed an Afghan National Security Forces’ vehicle, reportedly killing two and wounding two elements in Bazar area of Shah Joy district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed a vehicle in Musa Qala district.
