Hello and welcome to the 738th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:


Unknown gunmen attempted to assassinate the commander of the Afrin’s military police, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Hammadin (Abu Riyad) in Afrin city. Hammadin was wounded in the incident and transferred to a hospital in Turkey.

Left over Islamic State’s improvised explosive device killed two civilians in the village of Sheikh al-Nasser.


Hayat Tahrir al-Sham clashed with an Islamic State’s cell in the city of Binnish. Among the cell’s elements were reportedly individuals who recently escaped from the Idlib Central Prison. According to reports, five elements of the Islamic State’s cell and a civilian were killed in the clashes between the two.

Unknown gunmen killed an element of the Free Syrian Army’s 1st Coastal Division between the cities of Saraqib and Ariha.

Kunar Province:

Islamic State killed one and captured two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Chapa Dara district.

Helmand Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Security Forces’ post in Kamparak area between Sangin and Jerashk districts. Nine elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were reportedly killed and two armored personnel carriers were destroyed in the encounter. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized a DShK heavy machine gun, two PK machine guns, and two assault rifles from the post.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed four elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Sangin and Garmsir districts.
