Hello and welcome to the 723rd installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device killed three elements of the Turkey-backed Syrian National Police in the city of Jarabulus. The explosion occurred as the elements attempted to dismantle the explosive device.

Islamic State conducted a suicide vehicle-borne improvised explosive device attack on a joint Syrian Democratic Forces’ Manbij Military Council and United States Army convoy on a road near the city of Manbij. According to reports, two elements of the Manbij Military Council were killed and three civilians were wounded in the attack.

Raqqa:

Improvised explosive device wounded three civilians near the village of Al-Ansar in western Raqqa.

Al-Hasakah:

Improvised explosive device killed one and wounded five civilians in the village of Sarab near Al-Shaddadi in southern Al-Hasakah.

Hama:

Al-Jabhat al-Wataniya lil-Tahrir (National Liberation Front)’s Jaysh al-Ahrar raided positions of the Syrian Arab Army on Al-Suqaylabiyah front in northwestern Hama. According to Jaysh al-Ahrar, nine elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed in the raid. Syrian Arab News Agency stated that the army repelled the attack, reportedly killing and wounding most of the elements involved in the attack. Syrian Arab News Agency also stated that seven elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed and wounded in the encounter.

Left over Islamic State’s improvised explosive device killed two civilians in the village of Najm al-Zuhour, northeast of Al-Salamiyah.

Homs:

Left over Islamic State’s improvised explosive device reportedly killed eight and wounded 11 civilians near the village of Arak in eastern Homs.

Afghanistan

Logar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 14 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Charkh and Baraki Barak districts, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Badghis Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 15 and wounded nine elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Muqur and Qala i Naw districts, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran two Afghan National Security Forces’ posts in Akazo area of Murghab district. Seven elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and six were wounded in the encounters. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized three PK machine guns, two RPG launchers, and five assault rifles from the posts.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 18 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and destroyed a motorcycle in Andar, Qarabagh, and Deh Yak districts, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Zabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Security Forces’ vehicle in Hazartak area of Shahr-e Safa district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed seven and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Nawzad, Jerashk, Musa Qala, and Lashkar Gah districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed and wounded three elements of the Afghan National Army in Tangano Godar area of Nawa-I-Barakzayi district.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Army’s armored personnel carrier in Band Taimore area of Maywand district.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
