Syrian War Daily – 13th of January 2019

Hello and welcome to the 668th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Idlib:

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham raided an Ahrar al-Sham’s service building in the village of Tramla (Tarmala) in southern Idlib. According to reports, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham confiscated all of the equipment in the building, which was reportedly used for the “Department of Civil Services” and the “Directorate of Electricity” by Ahrar al-Sham.

Hama:

Ahrar al-Sham’s elements in northern Hama are preparing to leave towards Turkey-backed Free Syrian Army’s areas in northern Aleppo. The elements handed over their heavy weapons as agreed with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. Reports suggest that between 1000 and 1500 elements will be evacuated from northern Hama to northern Aleppo.

Deir al-Zour:

Syrian Democratic Forces captured the village of Abu Badran in eastern Deir al-Zour from the Islamic State.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 24, wounded 17, and arrested 12 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban), as well as destroyed three hiding places and 12 vehicles and motorcycles in Khwaja Sahib Posh and Qaysar districts, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Herat Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan launched an attack on the Afghan National Security Forces’ center in the 6th Police District of Herat city. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, 16 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and three wounded, while two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were wounded in the attack. The same area was later reportedly targeted with a vehicle-borne improvised explosive, killing and wounding 15 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces, according to Al-Emarah.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed five and wounded 14 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed two motorcycles in Qarabagh and Ghazni districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed an Afghan National Security Forces’ supply convoy on Kabul – Kandahar highway in Qarabagh district. Ten elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed, as well as two vehicles and an armored vehicle destroyed in the ambush.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed one and wounded two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed 53 improvised explosive devices and several weapons depots and ammunition caches in Bala Buluk district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Police’s post in Sultan Miragha area of Farah district. Seven elements of the Afghan National Police were killed and five wounded in the encounter. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized a PK machine gun and seven assault rifles from the post.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed eight and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Khas Urozgan and Tarinkot districts.

Zabul Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Arghandab district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed an element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Sangin district.
