Syrian War Daily – 12th of November 2018

Hello and welcome to the 606th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Free Syrian Army’s Firqat al-Sultan Murad (Sultan Murad Division) released Bilal Sirioul, a media activist and photographer from Douma two days after his arrested by the group. However, photos emerged of Sirioul showing bruises on his legs and face, as he was physically assaulted during his detention by the group.

Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device exploded in front of the General Hospital and Salim al-Mula’s school for children in the city of Jarabulus. According to reports, one civilian was killed and around 13 wounded by the explosion.

Deir al-Zour:

Unknown gunmen killed an element of the Syrian Democratic Forces near Al-Hawi area in the village of Al-Ruz in eastern Deir al-Zour.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six and wounded four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Pashtun Kot district.

Jowzjan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device killed three elements of the Afghan National Army in the city of Sheberghan, capital of Jowzjan province.

Kunar Province:

Islamic State’s improvised explosive device killed one and wounded three elements of the Afghan Local Police in Bernarj area of Narang Aw Badil district.

Kapisa Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan killed four and wounded two elements of the Afghan Local Police in Nijrab district.

Maidan Wardak Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed five elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Nirkh district.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 19 and wounded two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed two vehicles in Malestan, Andar, and Deh Yak districts. Separately, the Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic State in Qarabagh district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that the group seized Malestan district’s administration center and nearby checkpoints from the Afghan National Security Forces.

Farah Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that the group overran all of Afghan National Security Forces’ positions in Nawa area of Khaki Safed district. According to Al-Emarah, 20 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and dozens wounded in the encounters.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed eight elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Tarinkot district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces allegedly killed 42 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and destroyed a vehicle, three motorcycles, and 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of explosive materials, as well as defused 12 improvised explosive devices in Sangin district.

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
