Syrian War Daily – 9th of November 2018

Hello and welcome to the 603rd installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Raqqa:

Improvised explosive device targeted a Syrian Democratic Forces’ vehicle on a road in Al-Haws area in eastern Raqqa. One element of the Syrian Democratic Forces was killed and one wounded in the incident. Separately, an improvised explosive device wounded a civilian near Balqis school in Raqqa city.

Hama:

Syrian Arab Army and allies conducted a night raid on a military position belonging to the Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Izza on Al-Zilaqiyat front in northern Hama. According to reports, 23 elements of Jaysh al-Izza were killed and 15 wounded in the raid, while Jaysh al-Izza’s spokesman, Mustafa Maarati stated that six elements of the Iranian IRGC were killed and ten wounded in clashes.

Afghanistan

Takhar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s (Taliban) Al-Emarah News stated that the group overran all of Afghan National Army’s posts in Khwaja Ghar district. According to Al-Emarah, 18 elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and 11 wounded in the encounters.

Logar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed one and arrested 11 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Baraki Barak district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device killed two elements of the Afghan National Army in Baraki Barak district.

Badghis Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Army’s checkpoint in Ab Kamari district, reportedly killing five and wounding four elements in the process. Three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were wounded in the encounter.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed one and wounded one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Andar district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reportedly seized 14 Afghan National Security Forces’ posts in Jaghori district. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, 26 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and one captured in the encounters.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed an Afghan National Army’s convoy, killing five soldiers in Muqur district.

Paktika Province:

Four elements of the Afghan Local Police defected to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Omna district.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 11 and wounded eight elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Khaki Safed district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan killed two and wounded one element of the Afghan National Police in Chahar Bagh area of Farah city. Two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were also wounded in the encounters.

UrozganProvince:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Tarinkot district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed ten improvised explosive devices and 40 kilograms (88 pounds) of explosive materials in Sangin district.
