Syrian War Daily – 3rd of November 2018

Hello and welcome to the 597th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham wounded three civilians at its checkpoint in the village of Kafr Karmin in western Aleppo. The incident occurred as the civilians failed to stop at the checkpoint.

Raqqa:

Improvised explosive device killed a civilian in Al-Mashbal district of the city of Raqqa.

Idlib:

Hurras al-Deen shelled Syrian Arab Army’s positions near Jourin camp in northern Hama. Reports claimed that four elements of the Syrian Arab Army were wounded by the shelling.

Clashes between two families in the village of Ayn al-Zarqa killed one civilian.

Deir al-Zour:

Islamic State’s Amaq Agency stated that three elements of the Syrian Democratic Forces, including a commander were killed and two wounded in an ambush on the road between Dhubyan and Al-Tiyana in eastern Deir al-Zour.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) overran two Afghan National Army’s checkpoints in Sang Zard area of Pashtun Kot district. Two elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and one wounded, while one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was killed and three wounded in the encounters.

Kapisa Province:

Three elements of the Afghan National Army defected to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Laja Mangal district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and destroyed three motorcycles in Hisarak district.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Giro district.

Urozgan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked and partially dismantled an Afghan National Army’s military base in Paye Nawa area of Tarinkot district. Eight elements of the Afghan National Army were reportedly killed in the encounter.

Zabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan killed one and wounded one element of the Afghan National Army in Tabaskhar area of Qalat district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 19, wounded one, and arrested four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed an improvised explosive devices factory in Garmsir, and Nad Ali districts, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Army’s armored personnel carrier in Chehal Do area of Nawa-I-Barakzayi district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed ten elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Nahri Saraj, Lashkar Gah, Marjah, and Nawa-I-Barakzayi districts.

Kandahar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three and wounded two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Maywand and Khakrez districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed and wounded six elements of the Afghan National Army in Miyanishin and Shah Wali Kot districts. One element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was killed and two wounded in the encounters.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
