Syrian War Daily – 15th of October 2018

Hello and welcome to the 578th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Unknown gunmen opened fire on a Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s court in the village of Al-Zerba in southern Aleppo. The gunmen fled from the area after Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s elements responded to the fire.

Raqqa:

Left over Islamic State’s improvised explosive device killed a civilian at Al-Asadiya farm near Raqqa city.

Idlib:

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham raided the village of Ayn Larouz in Jabal al-Zawiya and arrested several individuals. According to the reports, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham opened fire during the raid, killing one and wounding several civilians. Around 11 civilians were arrested and transferred to the notorious Al-Aqab prison. Reports claimed that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham raided the village looking for individuals accused of kidnappings and robbery.

Al-Quneitra:

Syrian Arab Republic officially opened Quneitra crossing with Israeli-held Golan Heights after almost five years. Similarly, Nasib border crossing in Daraa governorate between Syria and Jordan was also officially opened.

Afghanistan

Badakhshan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) attacked an Afghan National Army’s convoy in Jurm district. Five elements of the Afghan National Army were wounded in the attack.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed several weapons depots and ammunition caches in Khogyani district. Separately, the Afghan National Security Forces killed seven elements of the Islamic State in Pachir Aw Agam district and in Dara-I-Pech district of Kunar province.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces reportedly killed 25 and arrested four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed three vehicles and two motorcycles in Deh Yak and Andar districts, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News claimed that the group took over Andar district’s administration center, as well as nearby Afghan National Police’s headquarters and checkpoints. According to Al-Emarah, at least 16 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed, as well as 11 armored vehicles, two vehicles, and a military truck destroyed in the encounters.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four and wounded five elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Pusht Rod district.

Zabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked Seyurie district’s administration center and clashed with the Afghan National Security Forces near it. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, 12 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and two wounded, as well as an armored personnel carrier destroyed in the clashes. Three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were wounded in the clashes.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now one strike report will be published each week on Mondays.
