Aleppo:

First batch of evacuated rebel elements and their families from Yalda, Babbila, and Beit Sahem south of Damascus arrived at Abu al-Zindeen crossing near the city of Al-Bab in northern Aleppo. The batch reportedly consisted of around 1643 rebel elements and civilians, who will be transferred to temporary camps for internally displaced persons in Afrin region.

Yekîneyên Parastina Gel (People’s Protection Units) claimed responsibility for the assassination of Jamal Mahmoud al-Zaghloul (Abu Khaled), chief and one of the founders of the ‘Rebel Police Command of Damascus and its countryside’. Al-Zaghloul and his wife were killed yesterday by an improvised explosive device in the village of Al-Basouta, south of Afrin city

Idlib:

Unknown gunmen assassinated two elements of Ahrar al-Sham at a checkpoint near Fuah and Kafraya pocket. The two elements were reportedly killed by snipers.

Improvised explosive device targeted a vehicle of the Turkistan Islamic Party on the road between Jisr al-Shughur and Darkush. Five elements of the Turkistan Islamic Party were reportedly wounded by the explosion.

Demonstrations against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and the Syrian government were held in the city of Maarat al-Numaan. Around 50 people participated in the demonstrations.

Homs:

Demonstrations were held in the city of Al-Rastan in the rebel Northern Homs pocket, against the evacuation / reconciliation agreement between the ‘Negotiations Committee of the Northern Homs’ and Russia. Reports suggest that more than 4000 people attended the demonstrations in Al-Rastan.

Deir al-Zour:

Syrian Democratic Forces made advances against the Islamic State on Al-Baghouz front, reportedly advancing more than eight kilometers (five miles). Reports suggest that 30 elements of the Islamic State surrendered to the Syrian Democratic Forces, during clashes between the two on Al-Baghouz front.

Damascus:

Second batch of rebel elements and their families started evacuating from Yalda, Babbila, and Beit Sahem south of Damascus, towards northern Aleppo. Syrian Arab News Agency stated that 14 buses carrying fighters and civilians left the aforementioned localities towards northern Syria. Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Ababil will also be evacuated towards northern Syria, as negotiations between the group and Russia failed regarding the group’s evacuation to Daraa. Yesterday, Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Ababil reportedly decided to evacuate to Daraa, rather than northern Aleppo.

Syrian Arab Army and allies made significant advances in the southern part of Al-Hajar al-Aswad against the Islamic State. Syrian Arab Army reportedly captured over a dozen of buildings in Al-Hajar al-Aswad, including Quneitra’s workers club.

Islamic State’s Amaq Agency claimed that more than 65 elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed in clashes at the outskirts of Al-Yarmouk camp. Similarly, the agency claimed that two Syrian Arab Army’s tanks were destroyed at the outskirts of Al-Yarmouk camp.

Daraa:

Rebel factions (battalions) in the city of Al-Hara formed three infantry brigades and then merged into Firqat Ahrar al-Hara. The 1st Infantry Brigade consists of Katibat Abu Obeida ibn al-Jarrah, Katibat al-Shahid Abu Hammam al-Hourani, and Katibat al-Shahid Abu Akram, under the leadership of Ahmad al-Wadi. The 2nd Infantry Brigade consists of Katibat Aswad al-Jabal, Saraya al-Tahrir, and Katibat Fursan al-Malahim, under the leadership of Abu Ismail. The 3rd Infantry Brigade consists of Liwa Amjad Houran, Liwa al-Haq, and Katibat al-Shahid Issa al-Hourani, under the leadership of Mohammed Abu Hamza. Firqat Ahrar al-Hara’s leader is Ahmad al-Hasar and his deputy is Ali Abu Sulaiman, while Abdul Amin Abu Issa was appointed as the main commander of the newly-formed group.

Islamic State-affiliated Jaysh Khalid ibn al-Walid killed two rebel elements during clashes between the two at the outskirts of Hayt. The two killed elements reportedly belonged to the Free Syrian Army’s Firqat al-Haq.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed seven and wounded eight elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Ghormach district.

Kunduz Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed one and wounded two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Khwaja Pistah village.

Badakhshan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan fully captured Kohistan district from the Afghan National Security Forces, after three day-long clashes in the district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that 11 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and 14 wounded, while two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were killed in the clashes. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized various weapons and large quantities of ammunition, as well as three vehicles from the newly-captured areas in the district.

Kunar Province:

Islamic State assassinated an Afghan National Army’s commander and an element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Sawkai district. Similarly, Islamic State’s Amaq Agency stated that an Afghan government’s spy was killed in Sawkai district.

Laghman Province:

Afghan Local Police’s element surrendered to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with his weapon in Alishang district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed an element of the Islamic State in Khogyani district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan killed two and wounded five elements of the Afghan National Security Forces in Hisarak, Ghani Khel, and Bati Kot districts.

Maidan Wardak Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed a group of Afghan Local Police’s elements in Chaki Wardak district. Two elements of the Afghan Local Police were killed and one wounded in the ambush. Similarly, an element of the Afghan National Army was killed and another wounded in an ambush in Saydabad district.

Logar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed an element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Pol-e Alam district.

Urozgan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Army’s armored personnel carrier in Khanqie area of the city of Tarinkot, killing and wounding four soldiers. Similarly, an Afghan National Police’s armored personnel carrier was destroyed by an improvised explosive device in Yaqori area of Deh Rawud district, killing two policemen.

Zabul Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed eight and wounded ten elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as seized three motorcycles in Shinkay district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan raided an Afghan National Army’s checkpoint in Seadullah Khan Killi area of Mizan district, killing two and wounding one soldier in the process.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed two fighting positions and several weapons depots and ammunition caches in Nad Ali Nahri Saraj districts.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed and killed an element of the Afghan National Army in Bato area of Maruf district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized a motorcycle and a pistol from the killed element.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed three elements of the Afghan National Army in Sara Sakhar area of Maruf district.

CJTF-OIR:

Between the 27th of April and the 3rd of May 2018 CJTF-OIR has conducted 23 strikes in Syria. CJTF-OIR‘s main focus in Syria at the moment is Deir al-Zour-Albu Kamal region where they did 17 strikes supporting SDF‘s operations against IS destroying an IS staging area, a tunnel, one HQ, and an IS storage facility.

Other area where six strikes occurred is Al-Shadaddi, destroying two IS vehicles and four headquarters buildings. Full report on CJTF-OIR strikes conducted in both Syria & Iraq can be found here.
