Aleppo:

Unknown gunmen assassinated an element of the Free Syrian Army’s Liwa Asifat al-Shamal in the city of Azaz, north of Aleppo.

Raqqa:

Left over Islamic State’s grenade killed two children in Umm Fis neighborhood of the city of Tabqa. The casualties were confirmed by the Kurdish Red Crescent.

Idlib:

Improvised explosive device killed the head of the Free Syrian Police in the city of Al-Dana, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed al-Jaro. The improvised explosive device was planted by unknown individuals on Al-Jaro’s vehicle in front of his house, and exploded while he was on his way to work.

Unknown gunmen assassinated commander of the Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Izza, Khalid Maarati and two other elements of the group in the city of Khan Shaykhun.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s Ibaa News Agency stated that the group arrested one of the individuals responsible for the recent wave of assassinations in Idlib governorate. The agency quoted Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s official, Abu Osama al-Shami, who stated that the group monitored the individual and stopped him on a road in order to inspect his vehicle. Al-Shami stated that they found an explosive vest and grenades in the vehicle. According to Al-Shami, after the group questioned the individual, he confessed to being a part of a cell that conducted several assassinations. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s Ibaa News Agency claimed that the individual belonged to an Islamic State’s cell.

Jabhat Tahrir Suriya and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham conducted a prisoner exchange near the village of Hazarin, south of Idlib. Jabhat Tahrir Suriya freed 26 elements of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, while Hayat Tahrir al-Sham freed 21 elements of Jabhat Tahrir Suriya. Reports suggest that the two groups will conduct additional prisoner exchanges in the coming days.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham reportedly arrested Jaysh al-Izaa’s legal official and imam, Sheikh Ammar Kushima at a checkpoint near Atmah.

Hama:

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham reportedly arrested two individuals in the city of Morek in northern Hama, who were trying to plant improvised explosive devices in and around the locality.

Homs:

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery shelling of Al-Dahlak village and its surroundings in the Northern Homs pocket killed two Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s commanders; Abu Khalid al-Hamawi and Abu Ramah al-Hamawi.

Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh Homs announced that six of its elements were killed in clashes with the Syrian Arab Army in the Northern Homs pocket.

Damascus:

Syrian Arab Army and allies completely captured Al-Qadam district from the Islamic State, including Al-Joura, Al-Assali, and Al-Maadhaniyah neighborhoods.

Islamic State launched an attack against rebel factions in Yalda, south of Damascus. Islamic State reportedly managed to capture Al-Yabani hospital and two neighboring buildings from Jaysh al-Islam and Jaysh al-Ababil. Four elements of Jaysh al-Islam and Jaysh al-Ababil were killed in the attack.

Syrian Arab Red Crescent evacuated 15 wounded / sick individuals from Yalda, Babbila, and Beit Sahem to northern Aleppo, as part of an agreement between the ‘Negotiations Committees in Yalda, Babbila, and Beit Sahem’ and Syrian government, backed by Russia. Reports suggest that all 15 evacuated individuals are rebel fighters; 12 belonging to Jaysh al-Islam, two to Jaysh al-Ababil, and one to Firqat Dimashq.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three and wounded four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Mir Shakar village of Almar district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Army’s military base in Qara Shiekhi area of Juma Bazar, as part of the group’s newly launched nation-wide spring operation ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized two assault rifles from the base.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device wounded two elements of the Afghan National Army in Chichakto area of Qaysar district.

Balkh Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan killed nine and wounded 13 elements of the Afghan National Army in Chahar Bolak district.

Kunduz Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan launched a large attack against the Afghan National Security Forces in Qalay-I-Zal district, attacking the administrative district building, Afghan National Police’s headquarters and large number of posts in the district. Reports suggest that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan captured ten Afghan National Security Forces’ posts in the attack.

Takhar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran several Afghan Local Police’s posts and captured a large area in Khwaja Ghar district. Six elements of the Afghan Local Police were killed and eight wounded in clashes for the posts.

Badakhshan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan captured eight Afghan National Army’s posts in Tishkan district. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News, more than 28 elements of the Afghan National Army were killed, while three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were wounded in the encounters.

Baghlan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran and destroyed an Afghan National Army’s post in Pul-e Khomri district. One element of the Afghan National Army was killed and four wounded in the encounter.

Kunar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic State in Shaigal district.

Kabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran and destroyed an Afghan National Army’s post in Surobi district, killing one and wounding two soldiers in the process.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic State in Deh Bala (Haska Meyna) and Momand Dara districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized an Afghan National Army’s post in Goshta district, reportedly killing more than ten soldiers and wounding two in the process. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized four assault rifles, two heavy machine guns, and a vehicle from the post.

Two Islamic State’s improvised explosive devices killed five elements of the Afghan National Police and two elements of the ‘National Directorate of Security’ in the city of Jalalabad, capital of Nangarhar Province. Similarly, an Islamic State’s improvised explosive device killed one and wounded one element of the Afghan National Police in the city of Jalalabad.

Eight elements of the Afghan National Army surrendered to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Bati Kot and Ghani Khel districts.

Herat Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked Afghan National Army’s positions in Chushma area of Shindand district. Five elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and 11 wounded, while one element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was killed and three wounded in the encounter.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Army’s vehicle in Doghi area of Kushk (Rabat-e-Sangi) district. Four elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and eight wounded by the explosion.

Ghazni Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed an Afghan National Army’s convoy heading towards Khogyani (Wali Muhammadi Shahid) district. Reports claimed that 15 elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and 11 wounded, as well as three armored vehicles destroyed in the ambush. Furthermore, additional three Afghan National Army’s armored vehicles were destroyed by improvised explosive devices in the same area.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized three Afghan National Security Forces’ posts in Qarabagh district.

Farah Province:

Two Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive devices targeted an Afghan National Army’s patrol in Shewan area of Bala Buluk district. Two elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and four wounded, as well as an armored vehicle destroyed in the two explosions.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed seven elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed two bases and seven weapons depots and ammunition caches in Chora district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s sniper killed three elements of the Afghan National Army in Garam Ab area of Khas Urozgan district.

Zabul Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked an Afghan National Army’s foot patrol in Sheno Tato area of Arghandab district, killing one and wounding two soldiers.

Nimruz Province:

Afghan National Security Forces arrested three individuals suspected of belonging to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Delaram district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Jerashk district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed one element of the Afghan National Army and one element of the Afghan National Police in Awpashak and Parchaw areas of Jerashk district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan conducted a suicide attack against the Afghan National Security Forces’ military base in Loy Bagh area of Nad Ali district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that the attack was conducted by Rehamatullah Muhabat Helmandi and reportedly killed at least 29 elements, as well as wounded 12 and destroyed two armored personnel carriers and three vehicles.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s sniper killed two elements of the Afghan National Police in Sprni Koti area of the city of Lashkar Gah, capital of Helmand Province.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device targeted Afghan Local Police’s elements in Sar Band area of Arghandab district, killing one and wounding four policemen. Similarly, an Afghan National Army’s vehicle was destroyed by an improvised explosive device in Sarkar Bagh area of Arghandab. Afghan National Army’s commander, Leal Khan and another element of the army were killed, while three elements were wounded by the explosion.

CJTF-OIR:

CJTF-OIR announced a change in their publishing policy. Now two strikes reports will be published each week, on Mondays and Fridays.
