Aleppo:

Vehicle-borne improvised explosive device targeted a market in Al-Ghandoura, north of Aleppo. Reports suggest that one civilian was killed by the explosion. Free Syrian Army and Free Syrian Police stated that they arrested a gang in Al-Ghandoura, which is suspected of conducting VBIED attacks in northern Aleppo region.

Idlib:

Improvised explosive device targeted a vehicle of the Saudi cleric and preacher Sheikh Abdullah al-Muhaysini near the city of Saraqib. Al-Muhaysini was lightly wounded in the incident. According to Al-Muhaysini, his vehicle was targeted when he was returning from a meeting between Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and Jabhat Tahrir Suriya, regarding prisoner exchange between the two groups.

Improvised explosive device killed four and wounded two civilians on a road near the village of Bir al-Tayib.

Syrian Salvation Government, which operates in Hayat Tahrir al-Sham-held areas, declared a state of emergency in Idlib governorate, due to a recent series of assassination attempts in the governorate.

Demonstrations against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its leader, Abu Mohammad al-Jolani were held in the city of Maarat al-Numaan.

Hama:

Syrian Arab Army backed by allies recaptured the village of Al-Hamamiyat and repelled other attacks launched by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and its allies in northern Hama.

Improvised explosive device targeted a vehicle of the Free Syrian Army on the road between the villages of Al-Shariah and Bab al-Taqa in northwestern Hama. The explosion wounded two elements of the Free Syrian Army’s Al-Jaysh al-Thani (The Second Army).

Damascus:

Islamic State shelled parts of Al-Qadam district, south of the city of Damascus. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, two civilians were killed and eight wounded by the shelling of the aforementioned district.

Syrian Arab Army and allies made additional advances against the Islamic State south of Damascus. Syrian Arab Army reportedly advanced in Al-Joura and Al-Asali areas of Al-Qadam district. Islamic State’s Amaq Agency released three statements regarding today’s clashes with the Syrian Arab Army south of Damascus. According to the agency, 20 elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed by the Islamic State’s snipers in Al-Qadam district. The agency also stated that three Syrian Arab Army’s BMPs were damaged in Al-Qadam district. Separately, Amaq Agency reported that eight elements of the Syrian Arab Army were killed in clashes with the Islamic State in Al-Zayn neighborhood.

Syrian Arab Army’s General Hassan Yusuf Mohammad was reportedly killed in clashes in southern Damascus.

Negotiations Committees in Yalda, Babbila, and Beit Sahem reached an agreement with the Syrian government and Russia, regarding evacuation of wounded / sick individuals from the localities south of Damascus. Syrian Arab Red Crescent is reportedly already preparing to evacuate 15 individuals from the aforementioned localities. The individuals will be transferred to Jarabulus in northern Aleppo for treatment.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) launched attacks against the Afghan National Army in Chaghatak area of Almar district, as part of the newly launched nation-wide spring operation ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’ by the group. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that the group expelled Afghan National Security Forces from the aforementioned area, by capturing two military bases and nine checkpoints. According to the reports, more than 3500 families live in the aforementioned area. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized a DShK heavy machine gun, two PK machine guns, two motorcycles, and two vehicles from the captured bases and checkpoints.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran an Afghan National Army’s post in Gandab area of Chilgazy district. One element of the Afghan National Army was killed and six wounded, while two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan were killed and two wounded in the encounter. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized two PK machine guns and an assault rifle from the post.

Balkh Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 13 and wounded 11 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Chahar Bolak district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reportedly repelled the Afghan National Security Forces’ offensive in Chahar Bolak, killing 14 and wounding 16 elements.

Kunduz Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran and destroyed an Afghan National Army’s major base in Archi (Dasht-e Archi) district, as part of the newly-launched ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that at least 19 elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and six wounded in the encounter, as well as three vehicles destroyed.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed an Afghan National Army’s armored vehicle and killed six soldiers in Khan Abad district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized three assault rifles from the killed elements.

Takhar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reportedly captured five villages, eight posts, and large surrounding areas from the Afghan National Security Forces in Yangi Qala district. Similarly, Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News reported that the group captured ten Afghan National Security Forces’ posts and large surrounding areas in Yangi Qala district.

Badakhshan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized three Afghan National Army’s posts in Baharak district, reportedly killing nine and wounding a dozen of soldiers in the process.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed Afghan National Police’s elements in the city of Fayzabad, capital of Badakhshan Province. Two elements of the Afghan National Police were killed and a vehicle destroyed in the ambush. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized an assault rifles and a heavy machine gun from the killed elements.

Samangan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized two Afghan National Army’s posts in Darah Sof Balla district. Afghan National Army’s commander was killed and four elements of the army wounded in clashes for the two posts.

Baghlan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four and wounded seven elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Hussein Khel, Bibi Aynah and Cheshme Shir areas.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan captured an Afghan National Army’s base in Pul-e Khomri district, killing three and wounding six soldiers in the process.

Kunar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three elements of the Islamic State in Shaigal district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, including commander Mohammad Wali, as well as destroyed a motorcycle in Chaparhar and Ghani Khel districts. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Al-Emarah News stated that 37 elements of the Afghan National Security Forces were killed and wounded, as well as four tanks destroyed in Jalalabad, Surkh Rod, Bati Kot, Sherzad, Ghani Khel, Momand Dara, and Hisarak districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked an administrative district building, Afghan National Police’s headquarters and checkpoints in Chaparhar, as part of the recently launched nation-wide operation ‘Operation Al-Khandaq’. Four elements of the Afghan National Police were killed and seven wounded in the encounters. Similarly, an Afghan Local Police’s element was killed and three wounded in an attack by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan on a post in Khogyani district.

Seven elements of the Afghan National Army surrendered to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with their weapons in Bati Kot district.

Logar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized an Afghan National Army’s post in Mohammad Agha district, reportedly killing nine and wounding a dozen of soldiers in the process.

Badghis Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 11 and wounded 16 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Qadis district, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense. One of the 11 killed elements was the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s district governor, Saleh Mohammad.

Herat Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan attacked an Afghan National Army’s convoy in Aziz Abad area of Shindand district, reportedly destroying at least two vehicles and wounding three soldiers.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 12 and wounded nine elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as seized several weapons depots and ammunition caches in Muqur and Ab Band districts.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized an Afghan National Army’s post in Qarabagh district, killing seven and wounding five soldiers in the process. Separately, four elements of the Afghan National Army were killed and two wounded in clashes with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Gelan district.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed three and wounded six elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Bala Buluk and Farah Rod districts. One of the three killed elements was the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s district chief / governor of Farah Rod, Qari Gul Mohammad.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 13 and wounded two elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed two bases and several weapons depots and ammunition caches in Chora district.

Zabul Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 23 and wounded 15 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Daychopan district, according to the Afghan Ministry of Defense.

Helmand Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed and killed three elements of the Afghan National Army in Sarkhadoz area of Nawa-I-Barakzayi district. Separately, Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s snipers killed and wounded four elements of the Afghan National Police in the same area.

Kandahar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed five and wounded seven elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Maywand district. Two Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive devices killed six and wounded six elements of the Afghan National Army in Mandozo area of Maywand. One of the six killed elements was the Afghan National Army’s commander Rehmat, who was initially wounded by the targeting of his vehicle, but died on the way to a hospital.

CJTF-OIR:

Between the 20th and the 26th of April 2018 CJTF-OIR has conducted 21 strikes in Syria. CJTF-OIR‘s main focus in Syria at the moment is Deir al-Zour-Albu Kamal region where they did 13 strikes supporting SDF‘s operations against IS destroying four IS fighting positions, a motorcycle, four IS vehicles, an IS weapons staging area, and damaging one fighting position.

Other area where eight strikes occurred is Al-Shadaddi, destroying six IS vehicles. Full report on CJTF-OIR strikes conducted in both Syria & Iraq can be found here.
