Hello and welcome to the 308th installment of the SWD.

Military events/news are listed below by the governorates:

Aleppo:

Syrian Arab Army captured Uwaynat Kabirah, Uwaynat Saghirah, Tell Shahid, Masih, and Tell Masih from the rebel factions in the southern Aleppo.

Rebel forces stationed on Al-Zahraa neighborhood front in the western Aleppo shelled Al-Nail street and Khalidiyah neighborhood of the city of Aleppo. The shelling targeted Wahat al-Tufula kindergarten in the area, reportedly killing two and wounding three civilians, as well as causing material damage.

Idlib:

Syrian Arab Army recaptured Tell Maraq from the rebel factions in the southern Idlib. Free Syrian Army’s Jaysh al-Izza reported that it repelled today’s first attack by the Syrian Arab Army on the locality and seized a tank. Free Syrian Army’s Al-Jaysh al-Thani targeted Syrian Arab Army’s tank with a Konkurs anti-tank guided missile on Tell Maraq front.

Commander in the Free Syrian Army’s Free Idlib Army, Mohammed al-Dani (Abu Mahmoud) was killed in the clashes with the Syrian Arab Army in the southern Idlib.

Islamic State launched an attack against the Syrian Arab Army east of Sinjar in the southern Idlib. According to the Islamic State’s Amaq Agency, Islamic State captured seven positions from the Syrian Arab Army in the area and killed three and wounded four Syrian Arab Army’s elements, as well as seized four vehicles during the clashes.

Unknown gunmen assassinated Hayat Tahrir al-Sham’s commander Abu Hamza al-Turki, west of the city of Idlib.

Hama:

Syrian Arab Army captured a hill from the Islamic State, which overlooks Tutah and Abu Hariq villages in the northern Hama.

Deir al-Zour:

Syrian Democratic Forces and Islamic State continue to clash in the city of Gharanij, eastern Deir al-Zour. Islamic State’s improvised explosive device exploded in the city, causing several casualties among the civilians. Islamic State’s Amaq Agency also reported a suicide attack against the Syrian Democratic Forces elements in Gharanij, killing and wounding ten elements.

Islamic State reportedly executed three individuals accused of belonging to the Syrian Democratic Forces in Al-Kushma neighborhood of Al-Shafa.

Islamic State’s sniper killed an element of the Syrian Democratic Forces at the outskirts of Al-Bahra village northwest of Hajin, according to the Amaq Agency.

Damascus:

Syrian Arab Army’s artillery and Syrian Arab Air Force targeted Harasta, Arbeen, Douma, Awtaya, Hazrama, and Al-Nashabiyah in the East Ghouta. Reports suggest that a number of civilians was wounded by the targeting of Douma and Harasta.

Rebel factions in the East Ghouta targeted Al-Tahi roundabout in Masaken Barzeh neighborhood of the city of Damascus with an RPG. Syrian Arab News Agency reported that a civilian was wounded and several houses damaged by the explosion.

Faylaq al-Rahman’s security detachment arrested Abdul Karim Orabi (Abu al-Huda) in the East Ghouta. Abdul Karim is brother of Dr. Fayez Orabi, who is an official/elder of Jobar neighborhood and a member of the General Secretariat.

Jaysh al-Islam’s member of Shura council, Abu Yousef Abdul Aziz reportedly fled from Jaysh al-Islam’s stronghold of Douma in the East Ghouta to Syrian Arab Army’s areas through Al-Wafideen camp, northeast of Douma.

Syrian Arab Army entered and captured all of the rebel-held localities in Beit Jinn pocket, as part of the reconciliation/evacuation agreement between the two sides. Local rebel fighters that decided to reconcile have joined Fawj al-Kharmoun, which is part of the National Defense Forces and under the command of Assad Hamza.

Daraa:

Tajammu al-Wiyat al-Omari’s element was killed by an improvised explosive device on the road between Shara and Karim al-Janubi villages in Al-Lajat area. Syrian Arab Army’s tank targeted the location of the explosion, killing additional three elements of the group, as they were retrieving the killed element. Rebel “Daraa Martyrs Documentation Office” confirmed the deaths of the aforementioned elements.

Syrian Arab Army’s improvised explosive device targeted the vehicle of the Free Syrian Army’s Fawj al-Midfaeiat al-Awl (1st Artillery Regiment), killing one element of the group in Daraa al-Balad area of the city of Daraa.

Afghanistan

Faryab Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed an element of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) in Qaysar district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed and seriously wounded Afghan National Army’s commander Asif in Arab area of Pashtun Kot district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed and killed an element of the Afghan Local Police in Pakhal Soz area of Gurziwan district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan seized an assault rifle from the killed element. Separately, Afghan Local Police’s element was killed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Chahar Thoth area of Pashtun Kot district.

Balkh Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed an element of the Afghan Local Police, killing him and seizing his assault rifle in Khas Balkh district.

Kunduz Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed four and wounded three elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Imam Sahib district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan raided Afghan National Army’s military post, reportedly killing around 20 soldiers and destroying a tank and another vehicle, at the outskirts of Kunduz city. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan reportedly seized a mortar, a sniper rifle, and seven assault rifles from the encounter.

Badakhshan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 15 and wounded 11 elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, as well as destroyed a base in Jurm district.

Baghlan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed six and wounded seven elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the province.

Nuristan Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s landmine destroyed Afghan National Police’s vehicle, killing four, including a commander and wounding two elements in Waygal district.

Kapisa Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device killed an element of the Afghan Local Police in Tagab district.

Nangarhar Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 21 elements of the Islamic State in Achin district. Afghan National Security Forces also conducted operations against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, killing two elements of the group and destroying a vehicle in Sherzad district.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan claimed that one of its elements targeted United States’ troops with a hand grenade outside the United States’ base adjacent to Jalalabad airport. According to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, two United States’ soldiers were killed and one wounded by the explosion, while the element that conducted the attack was killed in the clashes, which occurred after the attack.

Maidan Wardak Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device wounded two elements of the Afghan National Police in Jalrez district.

Afghan National Army and Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan clashed in Saydabad district.

Khost Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device destroyed Afghan National Army’s vehicle and killed four soldiers in Alishir district. Similarly, four Afghan National Army’s elements were killed in the city of Khost when their vehicle was targeted by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device.

Badghis Province:

Residents of Takhawi village in Jawand district pledged their allegiance to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

Ghazni Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed 24 and wounded nine elements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Andar and Qarabagh districts. Afghan National Security Forces also destroyed four motorcycles.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan captured four military posts and a large area from the Afghan National Security Forces in Gelan district

Afghan National Army’s element was killed by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in the city of Ghazni.

Farah Province:

Afghan National Security Forces conducted large-scale operations against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, killing 14 and wounding 17 elements of the group in Khaki Safed district. Furthermore, Afghan National Security Forces destroyed seven motorcycles and several weapons depots and ammunition caches.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan simultaneously attacked three Afghan National Police’s checkpoints in Bazar area of Farah Rod district. Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan overran one checkpoint, killing one and wounding one element of the Afghan National Police.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device targeted Afghan National Army’s foot patrol, killing three soldiers near Ishaqzo pump in Bakwa district.

Urozgan Province:

Afghan National Security Forces killed two and wounded one fighter of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Chora district.

Helmand Province:

Afghan National Security Forces conducted operations against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in Garmsir and Sangin districts, killing seven and capturing seven elements of the group, Furthermore, Afghan National Security Forces destroyed a dozen of improvised explosive devices, several weapons depots and ammunition caches, an IED factory, and 326 kilograms (718 pounds) of explosive materials during the operations.

Kandahar Province:

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ambushed and killed an element of the Afghan National Security Forces in Ansari market area of the 1st Police District in the city of Kandahar. Similarly, Afghan National Security Forces element was assassinated at the outskirts of the 4th Police District in the city of Kandahar, while an element of the Afghan National Police was killed by an Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s sniper at the outskirts of the 9th Police District in Kandahar.

Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s improvised explosive device targeted Afghan National Army’s foot patrol in Safari base area of Arghandab district, killing one and wounding two soldiers.
